iplicit, the award-winning cloud provider, has today announced a strategic partnership with inventory management leader Cin7 to fill a critical gap in the UK’s wholesale and distribution midmarket.
The partnership will see iplicit and Cin7 deliver a highly functional, true-cloud solution for SMEs in need of managing their accounting and inventory needs simultaneously, with an integrated platform.
SMEs in the wholesale and retail sectors, which accounted for over a third (34%) of SME turnover in 2024, have, until now, been massively underserved in this space.
Many of the existing finance solutions on the market that offer functional inventory features or add-ons are high on hosting costs, low on functionality, and / or operated as legacy, on-premises solutions. These, and the generic, entry-level inventory solutions available today, often fall short of addressing SMEs’ complex requirements and their increasing need to migrate to agile, cost-effective cloud alternatives.
In response, iplicit has developed a specialist Cin7 connector which, in addition to its full cloud accounting suite, will deliver cloud-enabled inventory management.
iplicit offers a state-of-the-art cloud accounting platform that is purpose-built for the UK and Ireland’s midmarket. After a thorough review of the market, it identified Cin7 as the inventory management software provider best placed to serve SMEs in this space, with advanced functionality that spans beyond the entry-level alternatives.
Cin7 is a modern, cloud-based inventory and order management platform, combining inventory, point-of-sale, e-commerce, and warehouse management functionalities into a single solution. It integrates seamlessly with accounting, shipping, and marketplace platforms, and supports over 8,500 businesses worldwide. In November 2024, Cin7 received a $500 million backing from a single-asset continuation fund closed by Rubicon Technology Partners, to accelerate growth.
Partner network
Following the launch of its Channel Reseller Programme in 2024, iplicit has been working with many of the UK’s top accounting and ERP resellers and implementation partners to serve SMEs in the wholesale, retail, and distribution sectors.
With the help of its partners and tech investor One Peak, iplicit identified this critical gap in the finance and inventory solutions currently available to these growing organisations in need of greater insights, control and, in many cases, escape from old legacy systems.
iplicit’s specialist integration for Cin7 will be available primarily to its expanding list of reseller and implementation partners and is being rolled out in the months ahead.
Paul Sparkes, Chief Product Officer at iplicit, adds: “Partnering with Cin7 is an exciting milestone in our ongoing product roadmap. A specialist in its field, Cin7 shares our passion and understanding of the value of high-quality integration partners to meet the evolving needs of SMEs in the UK today.”
“SMEs in wholesale and distribution have complex needs. As such, many have been held hostage on intricate, outdated on-premises systems that have been heavily customised to meet their needs, but at a great cost when we look at the time-consuming manual intervention needed. Our partners and their customers have spoken, and there is a real demand for a true-cloud, fully integrated solution to manage finance and inventory without any friction. Integrating with Cin7 will allow us to deliver just that, providing SMEs with access to two advanced, specialist platforms at a fraction of the cost and complexity of enterprise scale alternatives.”
Arun Kumar, Global Director Technology & Strategic Partnerships at Cin7, adds: “Cin7 is excited to partner with iplicit to serve the unmet and evolving needs of SMEs in the UK and Irish markets. Aligned with our open ecosystem approach and vision for a joint SME-friendly ERP solution to best serve this target segment, iplicit is planning to launch the Cin7 connector to deliver our joint value.”
“Product manufacturers and/or sellers in the wholesale, distribution and retail markets have increasingly complex and nuanced needs, especially as they scale across channels and geos. Cin7’s vision of Intelligent Commerce and Connected Inventory Management squarely accounts for such needs. Extending this easy-button solution across inventory and financial management aspects through a fully cloud enabled, seamlessly integrated, unified solution with iplicit is a great value we plan to deliver to the market. Enterprise scale ERP at a fraction of the cost and complexity.”
