What's actually changing in finance, and what to do about it.

What this is

iplicit, Pleo and Blick Rothenberg are hosting an evening panel and networking event for finance leaders at scaling businesses.

If you're a senior finance leader at a scaling business, you've probably got no shortage of conferences to go to. What's harder to find is a room where it's just peers, no vendor stands, no keynote you're half listening to, just people working through the same decisions you are.

This evening is an attempt to fix that. A small, invite-only gathering, the question of the evening will be: what's actually changing in finance right now, and what should you be doing about it?

The evening opens with a panel discussion to get everyone thinking in the same direction. What happens after that, in the room, over drinks, with people facing the same decisions you are, is the actual point.

The topics we'll be discussing

Where the finance function is actually heading

Which finance tasks are genuinely on track to be automated, and which ones aren't going anywhere soon. What the entry level finance role looks like once the traditional "junior does the manual work" pipeline disappears, and what to hire for over the next two to three years instead. What has to stay human, whatever else changes, to remain audit compliant.

How to make sense of your own data, without just adding more dashboards

Every growing business hits the same fork in the road: centralise everything into one system, or build a reporting layer across what you've already got. This session brings an ERP perspective and an integrations perspective into the same conversation, so you hear both sides of that decision from people who've actually made it, not just sold it.

Whether your AI spend is paying for itself

AI credits are getting more expensive, and most businesses haven't properly answered whether the AI they're using is earning its keep. This is a straight look at the difference between AI that's doing real work and AI that's just an expensive novelty, plus how businesses are pricing AI into their own products without it quietly eating their margin.

Why join?

Most finance leaders are working through the same questions, where the function's heading, how to make sense of a growing tech stack, whether AI is actually earning its keep, but doing it alone, or in a boardroom where it's hard to be entirely candid.

This is a room of peers living the same decisions, alongside people who see these questions from an audit perspective too. A panel gets the conversation started, honestly and without a sales pitch attached, and the rest of the evening is for actually having it with people facing the same problems you are.

The evening's agenda

5:30pm – Arrival
6:00pm – Panel discussion and Q&A
7:00pm onwards – Networking, with canapés and drinks
