Platform Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Operations & Reliability

·        Operateand maintain iplicit’s Azure-based production and non-production environments.

·        Ensureplatform availability, resilience, security, and performance meet agreedservice expectations.

·        Performroutine maintenance including patching, upgrades, backups, and capacitymanagement.

·        Participatein incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvementactivities.

Platform Engineering & Enablement

·        Design,build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)approaches (Bicep / ARM).

·        SupportEngineering Squads by providing reliable, repeatable, and secure platformcapabilities.

·        Maintainand improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, enabling safe and efficientdelivery.

·        Collaboratewith development teams to understand requirements and remove platformconstraints.

Platform Environment Delivery & Optimisation

·        Design,deploy, and operate a secure, isolated innovation and demonstrationenvironment, ensuring strong security boundaries, cost controls, and no impacton production systems.

·        Design,deploy, and maintain a dedicated performance testing environment capable of supportingrepeatable, large-scale performance testing.

·        Supportthe execution of performance tests, establishment of baseline metrics,identification of bottlenecks, and validation of performance improvements.

·        Continuouslytune and optimise both environments to ensure reliability, cost efficiency, andongoing fitness for purpose.

Security,Monitoring & Cost Optimisation

·        Implementand maintain platform security best practices in line with Zero Trustprinciples.

·        Supportidentity, access, network, and workload security in collaboration with Platformleadership and Security Architecture.

·        Monitorplatform health, performance, and cost using Azure-native tooling.

·        Identifyand implement optimisations to improve scalability, reliability, and costefficiency.

Documentation& Continuous Improvement

·        Maintainclear documentation of platform architecture, environments, and operationalprocedures.

·        Contributeto the evolution of platform standards, patterns, and operational playbooks.

·        Participateactively in retrospectives and improvement initiatives to raise overallplatform maturity.

Operationalresponsibilities

·        Monitoralerts, dashboards, and logs; respond to incidents and service degradation.

·        Handlesupport requests from Engineering Squads and internal stakeholders.

·        Provisionand configure cloud resources in line with agreed standards and securitycontrols.

·        Supportchange and release activities across platform environments.

·        Assistwith audits, reviews, and assurance activities where required.

·        Demonstratesa commitment to the ethical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence inthe workplace. The successful candidate will be expected to understand andadhere to the company's Artificial Intelligence Policy and broader IntegratedManagement System (IMS) procedures. This includes remaining vigilant andproactively reporting any AI-related anomalies, information security events, oroperational weaknesses

Core Competencies:

Essential Skills & Experience

·        Provenexperience operating and engineering Azure cloud-native platforms.

·        Strongworking knowledge of Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipeline creation andsupport.

·        Practicalexperience with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep / ARM).

·        Understandingof cloud security best practices, identity and access management, and networksecurity.

·        Experiencemonitoring, tuning, and optimising cloud platforms for performance and cost.

·        Abilityto troubleshoot and resolve platform and infrastructure issues in aremote-first environment.

·        Basicworking knowledge of Azure SQL and SQL for operational support andtroubleshooting.

·        Familiaritywith containerised workloads (e.g. Azure Container Apps).

Preferred Skills & Experience

·        Experiencesupporting performance testing or non-production test environments.

·        Exposureto enterprise SaaS or regulated environments.

·        MicrosoftAzure certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-400) or equivalent experience.

·        Experienceworking in cloud-only, Intune-managed, modern workplace environments.
